Paper CutS

The first two weeks in Denmark have now passed, and I have been stunned with the mountain of official papers. Tax-paper, insurance-papers, job-centre papers, bank-papers, phone-company papers and last but not least a new Danish thing called NemID (easy id), a new digital signature, which was introduced by the state last year. The purpose of this is to "accelerate the Danish vision of one login for public and private services on the Internet."
(https://www.nemid.nu/om_nemid/about_nemid/) Basically it is suppose to make your life easier.........well next time please remember to send me the the code to activate it. I realised fast that without a working NemID I became as good as paralysed, as I couldn't manage my bank account, tax, or insurance!!

After three days I started to miss the chaos or should I rather say none-organisation of some of the Southern Caribbean states. Felt like running away to my little paradise.Yes you may very well have to wait in an office for a couple of hours to get through but at least your actions are not paralysed ...........being 'developed' cuts away the human contact and organise everything to such a degree that you are f.....if you either don't understand it or don't have the right 'settings' for it!!

Anyway I  finally managed to activate it, and have to admit it is very smart and does indeed reduce the time spent on sorting out the bureaucracy.........only downside, it seems like I need to get myself a wallet to store the little plastic card with the things needed to access the system.

So back here in Denmark small signs of Spring are starting to show. It is great to experiences the different seasons for a change. In the Caribbean you are either in the rain-season or the dry-season. Not sure whether it was just me, but I had difficulties telling them apart. To me the weather was always good in the Caribbean (or at least most of the time). Perhaps this is more to do with that Denmark seems to be in a permanent rain-season.............
Anyway in the weekend I went for a long walk and took some photos of the small tentative Spring signs..........enjoy

Climate change

As some of you might have realised I am back in Denmark. After a marathon of a journey I arrived late  Wednesday in Copenhagen Airport- Demmark.
With wet eyes I left Trinidad and Julian Monday afternoon and I sat out for the first leg of my trip – Trinidad- Barbados.
I arrived late Monday afternoon in Bridgetown, where I with the help of a local Taxidriver  found a place to stay for the night.
Due to some re-booking mistake, my trip back home had been organized in such a way that I got to spend 25 hours in Barbados.  After having spent Tuesday on the beach soaking in the last heat, sun, rum and sea before returning to frosty Denmark, I jumped on a bus to the airport. On my way out I talked with an elderly black Barbadian man, who told me some anecdotes from his life. This included stories from when he lived in London, where he in his youth had difficulties to find a place to live, as most places at that time did not accept ‘dog, blacks and Irish’, to quote the man himself. Feed up with this attitude, he decided to save up enough to buy his own and rent it out to whomever he found fitting and with no regard to skin colour.
Second leg of my trip (Barbados-London) was long and exhausting, mostly because I couldn’t sleep (for a second night in a row). I arrived in London just before 6am. Wednesday morning.
Arriving from 30+ to 0 my body went into an immediate cold chock, and for two hours I could not feel my feet.
After doing some recovering in one of the cafes in the airport, I headed to Brighton to meet up with Ilke (My room-mate and good friend from Sussex Uni.). Later in the day we were joined by two other friends Renan and Sabrina, and after sharing a couple of beers and telling some pirate-tales from the sea, the time had come for the third leg of my journey. So once again I headed to the airport to reach my final destination – Denmark.
I arrived in Copenhagen Airport just before 23:00 Wednesday night, where I to my big surprised was picked up by sister.
It is lovely to see my family again but also  strange to be back after such a long period of absence. Moreover, it is like I am the only one, who can truly feel just how cold is. Today I have heard several people going ‘such a nice and warm day today’……….have everybody gone mad?! 6 +degrees is not warm, not even close. Guess the best for me to do, is to go and hide under my blanket and not get out before Julian arrives at some point in the spring with boat from Tortola.
